Gond Paintings
Meet the internationally acclaimed artist, illustrator, and writer Bhajju Shyamji. Born in 1971 in the Gond tribal village of Patangarh, Bhajjuji was introduced to painting by his mother, who followed the tribal tradition of wall painting. From being a night guard and electrician to support his family, he transitioned into a professional artist. His work includes projects depicting European life through Gond Paintings, with his book “The London Jungle” selling 30,000 copies in five languages. Bhajjuji has exhibited his art in multiple countries and co-edited the compendium “Signature: Patterns in Gond Art.” He received the prestigious Padmashree award in 2018 for his contributions to resurrecting and popularizing Gond Art.
